BMI is commonly used for adults because it is simple and fast. It does not directly measure body fat, but it can be useful as a first check before looking at waist size, body fat percentage, or other measures.

Normal BMI Values

For most adults, a BMI from 18.5 to 24.9 is considered within the normal range. A BMI below 18.5 is underweight, 25.0 to 29.9 is overweight, and 30 or more is obesity.
